Tapeworms are parasites that live in the human gut, feeding on the food we digest. They enter the body when people unknowingly consume undercooked or contaminated meat, growing up to 30 feet long in some cases. She received medications to paralyze and eliminate the worms, as well as steroids to reduce brain inflammation. After three weeks in the hospital, she was finally free of the parasites.
